Message Text: CyberLink announced the availability of a free update for PowerDVD 10 as well as the release of the new Power2Go 7, the first BDXL burning software.

CyberLink PowerDVD 10

CyberLink is offering a free update for PowerDVD 10, adding significant new home theater capabilities in the latest NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards. With NVIDIA?s new graphics driver (v260) and the updated version of PowerDVD, full high definition 3D video can be enjoyed on a 3D HDTV through an HDMI 1.4 compatible connection. This is the first combination of hardware and software capable of playing Blu-ray 3D on a PC, connecting in full 1080p stereoscopic 3D to a 3D HDTV.

PowerDVD allows home theater enthusiasts to stream the full, uncompressed multi-channel Blu-ray audio through the same HDMI connection, letting movie lovers enjoy the ultimate surround sound experience on their AV Receiver. Blu-ray disc movies support lossless audio with up to 24 bits per sample for extended dynamic range and ultra-low noise levels. Sampling frequencies of up to 192 KHz deliver an extended frequency response. On supported hardware platforms including the latest NVIDIA graphics boards, full-quality Blu-ray disc audio can be enjoyed through an HDMI connection to a compatible Audio/Video receiver.

The free update also adds support for playback of a variety of 3D Video file types, including true stereoscopic 3D video encoded with Multi-View Codec (MVC), and files formatted with compressed 3D formats including side by side and over/under. PowerDVD also supports 3D video recorded by Fujifilm?s FinePix REAL 3D W1 camera.

Power2Go 7

CyberLink also today announced support for the latest Blu-ray Disc technology BDXL. Released by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) in June 2010, BDXL is a multi-layer recordable Blu-ray format with up to 128GB of capacity. CyberLink Power2Go 7, launched last month, is the first BDXL-compatible software application in the market with further CyberLink product lines to follow shortly.

Support for BDXL means users of CyberLink?s media burning software, Power2Go 7, are now able to burn up to 4 layers of data totaling 128GB on a single Blu-ray Disc. CyberLink's PowerDVD, PowerDirector, PowerProducer, and MediaShow will also support the new BDXL format in the near future, Cyberlink said.

BDXL, a trademark of the BDA, provides customers with triple layer 100GB RE (rewritable) and R (write-once) discs and quadruple layer 128GB R discs. Possible consumer applications include capture and playback of HD broadcast and satellite programming in markets where set-top recorders are prevalent and content storage.
