 Sony Begins Blu-ray 3D Production in Japan

Message Text: Sony DADC Japan Ltd. and Sony PC ell Ltd. will begin production of Japanese Blu-ray 3D movie titles on July 1st.

The two companies will work together in the encoding, authoring, disc production and packaging of the Japanese BD 3D titles. Packaging will be performed at the Sony PCL's factory in Shizuoka, Japan.

Sony PCL will provide the Blu-ray 3D authoring environment based on the MPEG-4 MVC encoding process for production of high-resolution 3D content. Multiview Coding (MVC) is variant of MEPG-4 H.264 used for BD 3D.
