Toshiba has begun volume shipment of its MBF family 2.5-inch enterprise hard disks.

The new HDD can be used in in mid-range servres, mainstream storage arrays or blade and rack-mount servers.

They offer a top capacity of 600GB, a rotation speed of 10,025 RPM and a 6Gb/s SAS interface. An enhanced power condition state that reduces drive spin when not in use is lowering the HDD's power consumprion. Certain models of teh MBF series also offer an option of drive-based encryption designed to the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) Enterprise Security Subsystem Class specification.
