Message Text: Sony today announced the commercialization of two LSIs, "CXD3267AGG" and "CXD3268AGW", for use in the close proximity wireless transfer technology TransferJet.

TransferJet is a simple wireless technology which eliminates the need for complex setup and operation. For example, just touching a TV with a digital camera enables photos to be instantaneously displayed on the TV screen. TransferJet can be used as a Universal Interface among a wide variety of consumer electronics devices.

The "CXD3267AGG" and "CXD3268AGW" which Sony is introducing are LSIs that realize TransferJet close proximity wireless data transfer based on the technical specifications established by the "TransferJet Consortium".

TransferJet wireless technology enables a high speed data transmission rate of 560Mbps. Directly touching two compliant electronic products together allows files to be transferred automatically, without the need for an access point.

A short 3cm transmission distance minimizes any risks of data theft and users can specify and restrict which other devices can be connected by TransferJet.

Sony has also integrated the wireless function, signal processing function and host interfaces necessary for high-speed communication into a single package using CMOS (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) processing. As a result, this enables TransferJet functionality to be incorporated with the addition of just a few external parts, simplifying its use in small-sized products.

Sony is making available a reference kit and software development kit for developers. These kits facilitate the implementation of this technology into products such as cellular phones, digital video cameras, digital still cameras, personal computers and hard disk recorders.

In addition, Sony is further enhancing its lineup with the release of three modules incorporating these new LSIs: a compact module for use in mobile products, a PCI Express Mini Card module for use in notebook PCs, and a USB connection module.

TransferJet Specifications Center Frequency: 4.48GHz Transmission Power: Under-70dBm/MHz (average power) Transmission Rate: 560Mbps (Max.) / effective 375Mbps (Throughput) Communication Distance: Within about 3cm
