Message Text: Samsung today introduced the new HMX-U10, SMX-K40, SMX-44 and SMX-K45 camcorders as well as the PL70 and PL55 digital cameras.

The HMX-U10 is a compact camcorder that records in full-HD and takes 10 mega-pixel still photos. It also allows users to share content online with its one-touch "upload" button to YouTube. The SMX-K40, SMX-44 and SMX-K45 record video in standard definition but then upscale the footage to near full-HD when viewing through an HDMI output.

The HMX-U10 offers full-HD video recording with 1920x1080 resolution. The HMX-U10?s 1/2.3 inch CMOS sensor also gives consumers the ability to capture 10 mega-pixel digital still images, all which can be reviewed on the camcorder?s two-inch LCD screen. At 56mm x 103mm x 15.5mm, and weighing just 95g including the battery, the HMX-U10 is an pocket-sized camcorder.

The SMX-K40, SMX-K44 and SMX-K45 record standard definition video at a resolution of 720x480, and then can be played back on an HDTV in near full-HD quality thanks to upscaling technology and HDMI connectivity.

The SMX-K40, SMX-K44 and SMX-K45 also offer one of Samsung?s most powerful zoom lenses. Consumers have a 65x Intelli-Zoom at their fingertips which enhances their ability to capture any moment they see no matter how far away they may be. The K-Series also features Samsung?s advanced Optical Image Stabilizer and comes equipped with Schneider KREUZNACH lens.

The SMX-K45 offers an internal 32GB Solid State Drive (SSD). The SMX-K44 offers an internal 16GB SSD and SMX-K40 does not have internal storage and requires the use the of a SD/SDHC card.

The HMX-U10 and the K-Series all feature Samsung?s play-edit-sharing program called intelli studio. The camcorders? built-in intelli-studio program allows consumers to turn any computer into a mobile studio, giving them the ability to edit and play their video without having to install supporting software. Sharing is also simplified using intelli-studio as the program takes the hassle out of uploading content to popular video sharing Web sites.

New PL-Series

Samsung's PL70 and PL55 offer 12.2 mega-pixels, 5x optical zooms.

With the PL70, users have access to a 28mm wide angle lens, while the PL55 offers a standard 35mm lens. The PL70 and PL55 offer 5x optical zooms and are each paired with image stabilization. The PL70 offers Dual Image Stabilization, which combines both optical and digital stabilization technology. The PL55 features Digital Image Stabilization. Users can also frame their shots and review their images on the cameras? large LCD screens. The PL70 features a 3.0 inch LCD and the PL55 features a 2.7 inch LCD.

Both cameras include Samsung?s Smart Auto shooting mode, an advanced setting which automatically chooses from one of the cameras? 11 scene modes, to produce the best possible image. When finished taking photos, the PL70 and PL55 feature Smart Album, a tool that allows users to easily search for a specific image they have saved on their memory card. Smart Album automatically organizes the user?s digital images and gives them the ability to narrow their search based on specific criteria such as the date or week the image was taken, the overall color tone, portraits or specific file types, including photos, videos, or voice memos.

The PL70 features Face Recognition technology that automatically stores up to 10 preferred faces to the cameras? internal memory. While taking a portrait, the PL70 will automatically recognize if one of the user?s preferred faces is in the frame and identify them as a priority for focus and exposure. Samsung?s Perfect Portrait System can also be found on the new PL70 and PL55, which includes Face Detection, Smile Shot, Blink Detection and Samsung?s Beauty Shot.

With the PL70, users can record 720p, high-definition video which can be played on an HDTV through an optional HDMI adaptor sold separately. The camera also utilizes H.264 compression, an advanced codec that allows users to record video for longer periods of time. The PL55 features MJPEG video recording at a resolution of 640x480.
