Message Text: Samsung is showcasing cutting-edge LCD display technologies at Display Week 2009, hosted by the Society of Information Display (SID), from June 2 to 4.

In its exhibit booth, Samsung is featuring eco-friendly, low-power consumption panels and light, ultra-slim panels designed for future markets.

Eco-friendly, Low-power Consumption
At the show, Samsung is introducing a 55-inch diagonal TV, a 14-inch diagonal notebook PC, and a 23-inch diagonal monitor panel as environment-friendly products, that reduce power consumption by 40 percent using "active dimming" technology. The 23-inch monitor panel consumes only 5.7 watts, the lowest level of power consumption yet attained for a similar-sized monitor.

In addition, Samsung's "active dimming" is the latest technology developed to reduce power consumption of edge-lit LED backlighting, while enhancing the panel?s contrast ratio. Also on display is a 10.1-inch notebook PC, manufactured using Samsung?s proprietary Pentile technology, capable of cutting power consumption by half.

Ultra-slim, Ultra-light LCD Design
Samsung is also showcasing the world's slimmest, lightest IT panels and newly developed TV displays that feature backlighting utilizing light emitting diodes (LEDs). Samsung has adopted LED backlight technology for the thinnest design on the market. The IT panels on exhibit include a 1.7mm-thin, 12.1-inch diagonal notebook panel and a 3.5mm-thin, 24-inch monitor panel. Its 12.1-inch LED panel weighs only 120 grams.

In addition, Samsung is showing a 52-inch diagonal, 9.8mm-thick TV panel, which features local-dimming technology while taking advantage of edge-LED backlighting. A 40-inch diagonal (4.3 kg) edge-lit LED TV panel is also being exhibited.

Next-generation Advances
Samsung also is highlighting next-generation display products including the first printable oxide TFT-LCD panel, a 15-inch diagonal LCD designed with blue-phase-mode technology and a 10.2-inch color e-paper. Expecting a surge in demand for touch panels in conjunction with the launch of Windows 7, a 10.1-inch diagonal integrated-touch notebook panel is also being exhibited.

In addition, wireless visible light communication technology using LED backlight is being showcased in a demonstration of a "digital content vending machine" solution that is expected to draw considerable interest.

At the conference exhibition, Samsung is hosting a separated exhibit area where its unique S-PVA technology is being shown alongside its SID gold-medal-winning 'Display of the Year' 240Hz TV panel that incorporates S-PVA technology among many other features. Further, a newly developed 41.3-inch super-wide (1m x 30cm) digital information display panel also is on display to give a detailed explanation about 240Hz technology.

The 47th Display Week 2009 is the world's largest panel display exhibition, hosted by SID, in conjunction with an expansive academic symposium and seminar.
