The High-Picture-Quality Master Engine consists of several technological components: the "Clear Double Speed" function detects image movement to give a clear picture; "Active Conditioner" automatically adjusts contrast and hue to match what is on screen and reduces noise with high accuracy; and the enhanced "Smooth Image Quality" function.

The D Series is compatible with online video content services and allows users to receive multi-channel broadcasts and video-on-demand. Users also have access to AQUOS-exclusive HD content in Japan, which includes AQUOS.jp, Yahoo! JAPAN for AQUOS, OCN Digital Magazine and Yahoo! JAPAN for AQUOS Video Channel.

Furthermore, Sharp?s newly developed Full-Digital 1-Bit Amp and the Auto Volume function automatically smoothes out sudden changes in sound volume.

Ther full HD models are also equipped with derrestrial/BS/CS110° tuners, support a contrast of 15,000:1 and have 3x HDMI, 2x D5 video and 3 x Video inputs, an analog RGB input, a monitor output (doubles as video input and recording output jack), Digital audio output (optical) B-CAS card slot, telephone line (2,400 bps), LAN (10Base-T/100Base-TX) and Controller (RS232C).

With screen-size choices from 52V inches to 32V inches, the D Series can be used as the home?s main TV or for private viewing in the den or bedroom, and it comes in a shade of black, white, or red.

Sharp has not ptovided pricing details for the new models, but it is estimated that they would start from 200,000 Yen ($2032) for the 32" model and up to 450,000 Yen ($4572) for the 52" model. The AQUOS D series will be available in Japan in June 10, 2009.
