Message Text: Asus unveiled the new "Marine Cool" Concept and new P45 Motherboards motherboards as well as a wide range of notebooks at CeBIT 09.

Asus Marine Cool Concept Motherboard

Eschewing traditional materials, this motherboard boasts a new technology - dubbed the Ceramic-Metal Thermal Module - that utilizes two different materials (ceramics and metals) to double cooling efficiency and thus allow it to work even in demanding of usage environments like high humidity and heat.

The mothreboards are sporting a color scheme with gun-metal gray and metallic military-green highlights, together with a heatsink styled after a rugged military armored vehicle. Additionally, this motherboard features Onboard UPS?a built-in polymer battery for extra backup power and a server-standard Failover Memory design to help sustain system boot-up.

On the front of the motherboard, a metal heatpipe module provides heat transference and dissipation for core components. Located on the back of the motherboard and set flush with the PCB, the Ceramic Backplate makes full use of a micro-porous ceramic technology to provide a larger surface area?helping to effectively convey heat from the motherboard PCB. Asus claims that the specific thermal design is able to improve thermal efficiency by up to 2 times.

The Marine Cool motherboard also features Onboard UPS?a built-in polymer battery that serves as an extra backup power supply that activates when a power failure is detected. This helps to avert damage dealt to onboard components, loss of critical files and data corruption due to inconsistent and fluctuating power caused during unexpected blackouts.

To provide even further support for operation sustainability, the server-standard Failover Memory design on the Marine Cool motherboard utilizes built-in memory to help continue system boot-up in the event of errors to add-on memory. When the PC is switched on, Failover Memory guarantees that the system will boot, regardless of incompatible or faulty memory.

New P45 Motherboards

Asus also showcased its new new P5Q PRO Turbo and P5Q Turbo motherboards. These motherboards are the new models in ASUS? P45-based P5Q Series and feature a unique Xtreme Phase Power Design for higher power efficiency. These motherboards are also exclusively equipped with the TurboV and Turbo Key features for easy overclocking options, plus the ASUS EPU and Express Gate functions.

The ASUS Xtreme Phase Power Design automatically utilizes more phases to deliver more power. Utilizing more phases actually results in lower average power loading for each phase, allowing more stable power to obtain higher overclocking performance. The ASUS Xtreme Phase Power Design is also able to automatically switch power phases in relation to current loading?ensuring that overall power efficiency is increased. Furthermore, the Xtreme Phase Power Design utilizes top quality VRM components available in all ASUS motherboard models, which include: Low RDS (on) MOSFETs, Ferrite core chokes and high quality conductive polymer capacitors.

The ASUS Turbo Key is an exclusive feature that transforms the PC power button into a physical overclocking button. Completing the easy setup provides users with the ability to boost performance levels with just a push of a button?presenting users with faster, more powerful performance without interrupting ongoing work or games. For hardcore users, the ASUS P5Q PRO Turbo and P5Q Turbo also feature TurboV, an advanced overclocking tool that utilizes a micro-controller to provide precise 0.02V voltage adjustments. Furthermore, users can save their preferred O.C. profiles and easily apply the best O.C. settings for different scenarios. N

Stylish Computing Solutions

Asus also showcased its new lineup of mobile computing solutions at the annual CeBIT 2009.

The highlights to be unveiled during CeBIT 2009 include the exclusive partnership between ASUS and Automobili Lamborghini in the ASUS-LAMBORGHINI VX5, a notebook sporting an exterior chassis inspired by the highly regarded and limited edition Lamborghini Revent?n; and the ASUS M90Gf notebook, an entertainment powerhouse packed with a wide array of multimedia-oriented specifications and features. CeBIT 2009 will also witness the launch of the new ASUS K Series.

The ASUS-LAMBORGHINI VX5 sports a futuristic chassis, with its design inspired by the revered LAMBORGHINI Revent?n. The VX5 is equipped with currently the world?s largest density Solid State Drive standing at 1TB.

The VX5 is powered by an Intel Core2 Quad processor and 4GB memory and features a TwinTurbo mode that users can utilize to accelerate CPU and GPU performance via a speed key. It comes with a 16-inch full high definition display and graphics are powered by an NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M graphics card with GDDR3 1GB VRAM. A newly-adopted illuminated ?chiclet? keyboard automatically lights up in low light conditions, while a Blu-ray disc combo optical drive completes the package.

The new ASUS K Series is designed for computing comfort and multimedia enjoyment. Equipped with the proprietary ASUS Super Hybrid Engine (SHE), the ASUS K Series delivers up to 5 hours of non-stop computing on a 6-cell battery, while providing a choice between performance and power conservation modes.

The notebooks have also Altec Lansing speakers, SRS surround sound and a 16:9 golden aspect ratio LCD display. The ASUS K Series also features a clever internal design with strategically placed heat vents that maintain a low palm rest temperature at an average between 27.7 and 27.6 degrees, even after long hours of use.

ASUS also announced the utilization of Non-conductive Vacuum Metallization (NCVM) films on the ASUS N81, N51, N60 and the N70 series of notebooks. NCVM is a vapor metallization film that provides a decorative sheen to the notebook and, being of non-conductive nature, can also avoid the interference of radio frequency (RF) signals such as Wi-Fi compared to other metallization methods such as aluminum. It also protects the notebook as NCVM is not only corrosion resistant, it also stands up to the knocks and bumps of day-to-day computing while on the move.

ASUS M90Gf

The ASUS M90Gf is a notebook dedicated to users who enjoy massive high definition on the move. Equipped with an advanced NVIDIA MCP79MH chipset that supports a maximum of 4 SODIMM, the ASUS M90F boasts the world?s largest memory of up to 16GB, with 4GB dual rank, 26-bit SODIMMS for extensive multitasking and multimedia capabilities while on the move.

"Community Designed PC" Concept

Asus has unveiled a revolutionary dual panel concept notebook that is the result of the ideas contributed from users from around the world. As part of the "Community Designed PC" project initiated by ASUS and Intel, the concept is still a work-in-progress which requires continued feedback.

The dual panel concept is just one of the top ideas discussed at WePC.com. The dual panel offers a flexible working space in which users can adapt to suit their prevailing usage scenarios, for example adjusting the size of the virtual touchpad and keyboard. Through hand gestures, handwriting recognition and multi-touch, users are presented with a control surface that is both flexible and intuitive. Users can use the dual panel concept in a myriad of usage scenarios, for example as a conventional notebook with multi-touch screens, a virtual keyboard and touchpad; a multimedia hub, in which both dual panels could combine to form a larger display for widescreen entertainment; or an E-book mode in which users can hold the dual panel concept notebook just like they would a conventional book while flipping pages through intuitive gestures or by touch. These concepts aim to bring convenience to the user through technological innovations and user-centric design.
