 Microsoft Denies Blu-ray Addon For Xbox 360, Announces New Xbox 360 Holiday Bundles

The company told CDRInfo that it has not plans to introduce a Blu-ray drive for the Xbox 360, responding to the latest rumors that surfaced the web. Microsoft said that it remained focused on providing blockbuster games for the Xbox 360 believing that games drive consumers' purchasing decision.

Yesterday's announcement of the New Xbox Experience at the Tokyo Game Show actually show the company's focus on new game releases that would make "the whole world to play". The New Xbox Experience will launch on Wednesday, November 19.

Microsoft also announced that beginning this month, buy any Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, and games are included free.

"Our industry is defining the future of entertainment," said John Schappert, corporate vice president of Interactive Entertainment LIVE, Software and Studios, from the Tokyo Game Show. "When the New Xbox Experience launches in just six weeks, we will be inviting the whole world to play. We'll also have the games that everyone will want, including all-new social experiences like Lips, Scene It? Box Office Smash, and You're in the Movies, all launching this holiday, all exclusively on Xbox 360."

For an estimated retail price of $199, the Xbox 360 Arcade Holiday Bundle comes with six free games, including SEGA Superstars Tennis and five Xbox LIVE Arcade games. Additionally, the Xbox 360 console ($299 ERP) and Xbox 360 Elite ($399 ERP) Holiday Bundles pair the consoles and the promise of the New Xbox Experience with two games: LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures and Kung Fu Panda at no added cost.

Xbox 360 invites users into a world where the games, movies and TV shows live side by side with their personal pictures and music library, ready to share anytime with friends across the globe through Xbox LIVE.

The launch of the New Xbox Experience on November 19 will feature Live Parties, On-demand entertainment and community-developed games.

The Xbox 360 will also allow users to create a virtual party on their TV with up to seven friends. With LIVE Party, voice chat while users play games, share photos real-time, and entertain friends all over the world.

The entertainment device also offers access to more than 12,000 exclusive films and TV episodes from Netflix, and a large online library of on-demand high-definition TV shows, plus hit movies from partners like Warner Bros., Starz, NBC, CBS, Constantin, MGM, and Disney.

It will also allow users to create a customized, animated Avatar and use it as a game-face throughout the LIVE Party sessions.

In addition, games developed by creative community will be available to the public. The Community Games channel on Xbox LIVE will include games made by students, hobbyists, and average Joes all around the world and will be exclusive to Xbox LIVE.

Microsoft also announced the new Xbox 360 game lineup. These include "Lips," l"You're in the Movies" and "Scene It? Box Office Smash," and Xbox LIVE Arcades such as "Castle Crashers" alongside indie favorites like the "Braid."

Other games include Lips, Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero World Tour and DanceDanceRevolution UNIVERSE3. Fro family, Microsoft suggests the new Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts, Dig Dug Stylish Edition, Pacland, and Viva Piata: Trouble in Paradise. Sport fans will have fun with the Madden NFL, Tiger Woods PGA TOUR, NBA Live, NHL 2K, and more. Blockbusters including Final Fantasy XIII will be available on Xbox 360 at launch in North America and Europe. Gears of War 2, Fable II, and exclusive Grand Theft Auto IV episodes will follow shortly.
