Message Text: Samsung unveiled its latest DRAM model Thursday that will be used in mobile devices such as smart phones.

The 1-gigabit DRAM model, nicknamed OneDRAM, combines currently widely-used mobile DRAM functionality with that of dual-port DRAMs, facilitating faster processing speed and a significant drop in power consumption compared with other models used in mobile devices, the company said.

The company plans to begin mass production of the new model in March of next year.

Samsung introduced a smaller 512-megabit version of the OneDRAM model earlier this year, which is expected to be used in the mobile devices of seven foreign and domestic companies to be released later this year.

"The market for the OneDRAM model is expected to expand fast as there is an increasing demand for high-powered memory solutions following the introduction of third-generation telecom services," a Samsung official said.
