Samsung will showcase in the following days ots new premium Blu-ray player at IFA in Berlin, the Samsung BD-P2500.
The player is powered by the HQV video processor to deliver full high-definition reproduction of Blu-ray. In addition, the player supports play back of movies stored on DVD-ROM, DVD-R and DVD-RW media, while the DVD upconversion function promises to offer HD-quality picture for SD content.
Music fans will also find very usefull the support for the audio CD format, (CD, CD-R and CD-RW media), and the overall sound quality of the player, supporting
Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS and DTS HD and Dolby TrueHD.
BD-profile 2.0 - Interactive features open up new perspectives
The new player will be compliant with the BD profile 1.1 requirements ("BD-ready"), which offers features like picture-in-picture (PIP), comments etc. A firmware upgrade will make the player "BD profile 2.0", that supports the BD-Live features. This means that the player fulfills the storage and network connectivity requirements of the profile 2.0 specifications.
Connectivity options include Samsung's Anynet + (HDMI-CEC) technology, Ethernet and USB.
The BD-P2500 is expected in Europe in September and in the U.S. a month later, at an estiamted selling price of $499. |
