Message Text: The Motion Picture Association of America is expected to release a new website that will offer information on where to find legit sources of movies for purchase or rent.

The information was reported by the Variety website, but the MPAA has not confirmed it. According to the report, the new website would let users search by film title and then provide links to options including purchasing theatrical tickets, buying or renting the DVD and legally downloading the pic.

All of the major studios are expected to support the site, which fits into the MPAA's overall strategy to fight online movie piracy.

According to an unnamed studio source, the new website is a response to research that found consumers sometimes have trouble differentiating between legal and illegal ways to watch and buy movies via the Net.

The MPAA's move could prove useful to movie consumers on the Internet. Until now, MPAA's efforts to tackle online piracy included legal attacks on P2P sites, pushing for Internet filtering on college campuses or trying to stop DVRs from recording movies.
