Message Text: Toshiba plans to release the new "SD-590J" DVD player in Japan this month, featuring an HDMI interface and 1080p upscalling capabilities.

Toshiba claims that the new player upscales standard DVD video to 1080p, offering quality comparable to native high definition video.

The supported disc formats include DVD-R/RW (VR mode), DVD video, MP3/WMA, JPEG stored on CD-R/RW as well as DivX.

The available outputs include RCA, S-video, composite and HDMI.

The Toshiba SD-590J will retail in Japan in the end of this month for 13,800 JYen ($130).
