Message Text: Nvidia's representatives confirmed last week that the company plans to release its next GPU in the next couple of months, which is claimed to have 1 billion transistors.

The new flagship GPU is expected feature 200 unified shader processors, according to the German Golem.de website, citing Jeff Brown, Nvidia's general manager of professional solutions. Nvidia's previous G80 and G92 GPUs featured 128 shaders.

Nvidia has been always avoiding to confirm early reports about products before their official announcement.

The company has also applied with the U.S. Patent Office for the the "Nvidia Tegra" trademark, although it is not clear whether this trademark will be related to the upcoming GT200 products or any other platform or chip. The application is dated April 8 2008.
