Hitachi Maxell and Mitsubishi Chemical Media are both expecting feedback from Toshiba in order to decide the future of their HD DVD-R /RW media releases.
Both Japanese makers
had recently announced
their plans to release HD DVD-R, -R DL and HD-RW media this month in Japan, but Toshiba's decision to discontinue HD DVD business has them puzzled both.
Mitsubishi told CDRinfo that will talk to Toshiba and decide how to continue HD DVD-R media supply to consumers. The company also said that Toshiba's announcement was rather surprising even for them.
Hitachi Maxell said that consumers' demand would decide on the future of the company's production and sales of its 2x HD DVD-R media.
