Message Text: The stand-alone version of Google Maps has proven to be an extremely popular mobile application, and a new version will be even more helpful to those whose smartphone lacks a built-in GPS receiver in getting from one place to another efficiently.

In its latest update, Google has added a feature called My Location. This uses information broadcast from cellular towers to approximate to the current location on the map. This is like GPS, though not as accurate. It can locate the users within approximately 1000 m on average.

The My Location feature is available for most web-enabled mobile phones, including Java, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, and Nokia/Symbian devices.
Other Features
In addition to My Location, Google Maps 2.0 also offers real-time traffic information, detailed search and directions, and integration with many internal and some external GPS accessories.
For more information, and to download, visit www.google.com/gmm on a desktop or mobile device. It is a free download.
