Message Text: Apple has promised that the iPhone will get support for the new Wi-Fi Music Store in the next few days.

A statement from the company also warns that programs that allow this smartphone to be used on carriers other than AT&T can cause "irreparable damage" to the device.

iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store
The new iPod touch launched with a feature not included in the iPhone: the ability to buy songs from iTunes and download directly to the device over a Wi-Fi connection.

iPhone users should be happy to hear that Apple's next system software update to its smartphone, which will be released some time this week, will add support for the Wi-Fi Music Store.

Unlocking the iPhone
AT&T will be the only U.S. carrier to offer the iPhone for a number of years, but a number of developers have released applications for unlocking this device so it can be used with other carriers, both in America and around the world.

Apple has released a strongly worded statement warning its customers to not use any of these applications:

Apple has discovered that many of the unauthorized iPhone unlocking programs available on the Internet cause irreparable damage to the iPhone's software, which will likely result in the modified iPhone becoming permanently inoperable when a future Apple-supplied iPhone software update is installed.

The company goes on to warn that installing unauthorized applications to this smartphone is a violation of its warrenty, and therefore customers will be requred to pay to repair all subsequent problems with the device.

Apple says:

Users who make unauthorized modifications to the software on their iPhone violate their iPhone software license agreement and void their warranty. The permanent inability to use an iPhone due to installing unlocking software is not covered under the iPhone's warranty.
