Message Text: Target Technology has alleged that Sony's Blu-ray format infringes on patents that Target has held since 2006.

The California-based company designs and supplies corrosion resistant thin film alloys for optical disc applications. Target names Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), Sony Pictures and Sony DADC US in a suit filled earlier this month, claiming that the silver-based alloy film found in the Blu-ray was invented by the company. Target is seeking a jury trial, damages and a permanent injunction which would stop Sony from allegedly infringing on its patent rights in the future.

The majority of resins offered today for DVD's work with Target Technology's silver alloy.

Sony hasn?t commented on the lawsuit yet.
