Message Text: The original Professional VAIO notebook has evolved into the new BX40-Series, continuing the fusion of technology and security that has defined the BX-Series from the beginning.

Although externally virtually unchanged, the BX40-Series employs the latest Intel Centrino platform, Core 2 Duo processors, ExpressCard expansion slot and powerful dedicated graphics (model VGN-BX41VN).

Performance is a given, with the latest Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 processor (model VGN-BX41VN) backed by a full 2GB of RAM. This reflects the concerns of existing BX-Series owners, almost half of whom rated CPU performance and the amount of RAM as very important factors. Over a third regarded graphics power as a key factor, so the flagship VGN-BX41VN lets you tap the power of an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2300 GPU.

Active data security is provided by a fingerprint recognition system working together with Trusted Platform Module (TPM) hardware-level protection. Even the danger of accidental data loss is reduced by VAIO G-Sensor HDD Shock Protection, which detects abrupt motion and automatically parks the drive heads, preventing a 'head crash' if the notebook is struck or dropped.

The new Sony VAIO BX40

The combination of 1280 x 800 resolution on a 15.4-inch widescreen display provides a roomy Windows Desktop giving you plenty of space to work and providing a panoramic view of documents and spreadsheets. Sony X-black LCD enhancement boosts contrast and enhances colour reproduction. When required, the integrated 1.3 megapixel Motion Eye webcam gives you the wherewithal for video calls and conferencing.

The special multi-function drive bay gives you the option of exchanging the DVD+-RW/+-R DL/RAM optical drive with a secondary hard disk - ideal for backups, large projects, data sharing or when exceptional levels of security are necessary.
