Hewlett-Packard unveiled plans to equip its Pavilion desktop PCs with drives capable of reading/writing to Blu-Ray and can read HD DVD discs.
The PCs will come with LG's GGW-H10N Super Multi Blue Blu-ray Disc Rewriter and HD DVD-ROM Drive, LG's second generation of Blu-Ray drives. HP said that the new Pavilions will be available in the following days.
The LG GGW-H10N is a SATA drive that writes on BD-R media at 4x, DVDs at 8x (recordables) and reads HD DVD-ROMs at 3x. The complete specifications of the drive are available below.
The drive will most likely be available in HP's Media Center lines, the m8010y and the d4890y, according to a PCWorld report. HP hasn't released pricing details; nor has the company offered specific system configurations.
