LG Electronics said on Thursday its recently launched Shine handset model had just reached its million-unit sales mark, and added it may launch another groundbreaking model later this year.
"LG will continue...introducing ten-million-seller models every year," said Skott Ahn, president and chief executive of LG's mobile communication business, during a news conference also marking the ten million unit sales milestone of the company's blockbuster Chocolate model.
LG, which in February won a contest organized by a consortium of twelve mobile operators to produce an affordable handset for third-generation mobile phone networks, hopes to sell "a mid-single digit number" of million units, Ahn said, adding "sales could rise to ten million units if circumstances permit."
LG's 3G handset is widely expected to cost around $100, according to a Reuters report.
"Shine" is slated to be introduced on the U.S. market next week by Verizon , LG officials said. LG is also looking closely at "three to five" models in order to determine its next blockbuster which may be launched during the second half, Ahn said. |
