 Nvidia GeForce 8600 series to Launch in 2Q

Message Text: Nvidia is expected to relrease a series of GeForce 8600 cards in the second quarter 2007, in an effort to fuel the demand for DirectX 10 graphics cards.

Citing sources in the Taiwanese market, Digitimes website reports that Nvidia will release different versions of the new cards, for the mainstream market. Prices are expected to vary from $230-130.

DirectX 10 graphics cards will be the main focus for both Nvidia and AMD at the upcoming CeBIT trade show to be held from March 15 to 21, 2007. In Hannover, Germany, AMD is also expected to debut its own Direct X 10 cards which will include the high-end R600 model along with the R630 and R610 aimed at mainstream at low-end markets. AMD's top-of-the-line R600 model is expected to have a sizzling core clock speed of around 800MHz with GDDR4 memory running at somewhere between 1GHz and 1.1GHz.
