The Blu-Ray Disc Association released the BD-RE format specifications version 3, and the BD-R format specifications version 2.
Sony has started today the FLLA licenses for both the new sets of specifications. The Japanese company has been appointed by the Blu-ray Disc Association Board of Directors as the Blu-ray Disc License Entity. The company is responsible for Blu-ray Disc Information Agreement (IA) and Blu-ray Disc License Agreement.
The Blu-Ray Rewritable (BD-RE) formats Version 3.0 as well as the Blu-Ray Recordable (BD-R) formats Version 2.0 were defined not only for broadcast recording of High Definition TV, but also for PC recording/playback. The new version of specifications include the adoption of BDMV (BD Movie Video). In addition, it includes the usage of UDF2.5 as a file system for PCs.
