Message Text: After versions slipped out onto the Net a few weeks ago, Toshiba have officially launched version 2.0 of firmware for their first-gen HD DVD players.

It's downloadable from their website or available on CD to registered owners.

The update expands audio to use the Dolby TrueHD 'lossless' codec, and solves some HDMI/DVI and playback glitches and compatibility issues, according to Toshiba.

Toshiba also released a new firmware for it sfirst HD DVD recorder, the RD-A1. The firmware is available to Japanese owners of the device. For more information visit http://www3.toshiba.co.jp/hdd-dvd/support/info/rd_a1/more_info.html.
