Message Text: Sony released more details on its first desktop computer featuring the next generation Blu-ray high definition DVD format, but no launch date was mentionned.

The Vaio RC300 will play and burn both single and dual layer disks with 25Gb and 50Gb storage capacity respectively.

Sony positioned the forthcoming PC as a tool for high definition enthusiasts, saying that the device will be able to burn content from high definition camcorders in its original 1080 HD resolution.

The computer will feature an Intel Pentium D dual core processor and includes RAID 0 Serial ATA hard-disk drives, DDR2 (double data rate, second generation) memory and PCI Express x16 graphics.

The device is expected to run Windows XP Media Center Edition and comes bundled with Sony's Giga Pocket TV recording software, according to the site.

Sony also claims that the upcoming VAIO RC Desktop is designed for expansion, with the capacity for up to 2TB of storage in multiple hard disk drives.

The company didn't provide a projected launch date or pricing information.
