Message Text: Thomson SA said it has reached an agreement with Taiwan's BenQ Corp to settle their dispute over patents concerning LCD computer screens and televisions, which will see both companies drop outstanding legal actions on the case.

Earlier this year, Thomson's patent licensing division filed a complaint against BenQ with the International Trade Commission, asking for a probe into LCD screens and components manufactured by BenQ that allegedly used Thomson patents without authorisation. A countersuit was filed with the ITO by BenQ.

As part of the settlement, BenQ will have a licence to use Thomson patents.
