Message Text: Nero has released a new version (2.1.3.15) of its SIPPS VoIP softphone. One of the new features in the latest version allows you to make video calls on the Internet based on the H.263 standard.

Video transmission can extend for the entire duration of the conversation or can be turned on or off on the fly. The video stream can also be transmitted in only one direction (unidirectional video).

The new TAPI interface allows contacts to be dialed directly from Outlook or from any other TAPI-compatible application.

SIPPS telephony features include traditional answering machine functions, an address book that can be synchronized with Outlook and Outlook Express, support for various instant messaging services (MSN, ICQ, AIM, Jabber) and connectability to the Siemens Gigaset M34 DECT. The system automatically displays the phone numbers of the most recent calls made and permits three-way conference calls. Any gateway service can be integrated to enable calls to be made to public and mobile telephone networks.

To download the SIPPS demo version, go to www.sippstar.com. As part of the product launch of the new SIPPS version, Nero is offering full version serial numbers at a special price of 19 euros. The price for serial numbers will go up to 29.99 euros on 1st January 2006.

The update is free for customers that already own a SIPPS version.
