Message Text: LG Electronics plans to introduce the first triple-mode phone which supports TD-SCDMA, WCDMA and GSM standards in the first half of 2006.

The new triple-mode mobile phone is based on Commit's TD-SCDMA chipset and LG's commercial WCDMA/GSM solution. Commit is a Shanghai-based chip maker for mobile devices. Other leading manufacturers such as Bird, DBTel and Lenovo are reportedly finalising prototype testing of their own TD-SCDMA handsets based on Commit's technology.
