Message Text: All registered full version users of Ulead VideoStudio 9 video editing software, will be eligible to download free upgrade plug-ins to add HDV and MPEG-4 support to the application.

The plug-ins offer support for two of the latest formats available to consumers. HDV is a high-definition format established by Canon, Sharp, Sony, and Victor Company of Japan, Limited (JVC), offering a new generation of video quality with 16:9 aspect ratio and higher resolution for greater detail and more vivid colors. The plug-in is of special interest to Sony HandyCam HDR-HC1 camcorder users, the first consumer HDV 1080i camcorder.

The Ulead MPEG-4 plug-in for VideoStudio 9 allows users to create video for high-quality playback, streaming over the Internet or display on mobile phones, PDAs or the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP).

To qualify to receive the HDV and MPEG-4 upgrade plug-ins, users must purchase and register a full box, ESD or upgrade version of Ulead VideoStudio 9. Users of OEM versions of the VideoStudio delivered with hardware devices may take advantage of the enhancements after upgrading to the full version. The plug-ins are available for download from www.ulead.com. Customers with OEM versions of VideoStudio 9 may purchase the plug-ins separately. The Ulead MPEG-4 Plug-in is priced at $29.99 and the Ulead HDV plug-in is available for $49.99.
