Message Text: Lite-On IT has officially announced the introduction of a external DVD burner to the market, that supports the EZ-DUB feature.

The SOHW-1673SU is a 16x DVD Dual drive with Double Layer writing capacity, and is also the first Lite-On drive that is equipped with the EZ-DUB feature.

EZ-DUB is a smart feature that no other brands on the market offer. The EZ-DUB drive have two buttons on top of their external case the DUB-button for copying discs and the FILE-button for backing up files. Extra hardware on top of the drive links these buttons to the EZ-DUB software. The software is designed by Lite-On, and offers only very few clear and simple functions: Copy Files and Copy Disc.

The Copy Disc function provides users a much easier solution for copying discs. All one needs to do to copy a disc is to insert the source disc to the drive, push one button and replace the disc (read) by a blank disc when the drive ejects, in order to be recorded.

The Copy Files function is an easy way to back-up your files. Again a simple 3-step procedure is enough: 1) drag the files into the EZ-DUB folder on the desktop, 2) insert a blank disc to the drive and 3) push one button.

The SOHW-1673SU drive is also compatible with the usual burning software, and like other Lite-On drives, NERO software will be bundled in the retail package.

With this new, easy to use external drive, Lite-On aims at users who don't like the hassle with complicated software programs when they want to duplicate a disc or backup their files. The SOHW-1673SU will be available on the market at the end of September for an estimated price of 99 Euro.
