Message Text: Intel's forthcoming 975X chipset will support both SLI and CrossFire technologies, suited for the next-generation dual-core CPU, the Pentium EE 955.

The 975X chipset is Intel's upgrade to current 955X, and is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2006. The 975X will come with a built-in PCIe x16 interface, which will allow motherboard makers to design boards with dual PCIe x8 slots to support both Nvidia's SLI and ATI's CrossFire dual-graphics technologies.

The new dual-core 955 processor will support 1066 MHz FSB speeds and 2x2MB of L2 cache, Hyper-Threading and will come with a clock speed of 3.46 GHz.

Intel schedules both 975X chipset and Pentium Extreme Edition 955 for Q1 2006.
