BenQ delivered an estimated 10 million optical disc drives (ODDs) during the first half of this year, five million of which were DVD burners, according to the company.
DigiTimes.com reports that with OEM prices for DVD burners dropping about
16% last quarter, BenQ's consolidated revenues fell 8% sequentially in the second quarter.
However, the production of DVD burners is still profitable, BenQ indicated.
BenQ has received orders for OEM DVD burners from new clients, with shipments to begin this
quarter. The OEM price level for DVD burners will continue to fall this quarter but the drop
will be smaller than last quarter's, BenQ noted. |
