Message Text: Mitsubishi Kagaku Media Co., Ltd. announced the early August launch of a LightScribe disc (DVD+R, CD-R) developed specifically for HP LightScribe system.

LightScribe discs have special disc labels," says Chief Information Officer Shigeru Tamura. "Conventionally, labels are printed by printers that are separate from the drive that records data on the disc. But drives and discs that are LightScribe enabled can use the same optical disc drive laser to burn content to the data side of the disc and create a silkscreen quality label on the other side of the disc. All in one drive, its quite revolutionary".

For example, a laptop computer that's LightScribe enabled can download and write the data a client needs on the spot, and then write the pertinent index information on the label side. Or, on trips or at events, photos taken with a digital camera can be downloaded to the LightScribe disc and the computer can write a label of your choosing. The finished disc can be distributed at once.
