Message Text: A survey conducted by Japanese news service C-News places Sony's Playstation 3 at the most appealing of the next-generation consoles. The survey polled 1,000 Japanese consumers between the ages of 10-59.

Out of those surveyed, 60 percent said that the Playstation 3 was the most appealing next-generation console, followed by Nintendo's Revolution with 8 percent, and Microsoft's Xbox 360 with two percent. The remaining 30 percent were undecided.

Those who chose the Playstation 3 cited a likely large range of software, the fact that the product would be produced by Sony, and the advanced technology inlcluded in the system, such as next-generation Blu-Ray DVD support.

Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are competing to commmand in the next-generation video game market. Sony dominated the last generation with Playstation 2, selling over 90 million units to date. Microsoft trailed behind with Xbox at around 22 million units, with Nintendo at a similar mark with its GameCube console.

Microsoft will head out of the gate first with the Xbox 360 this November. Sony is scheduled to debut the Playstation 3 in Spring 2006, while Nintendo has said that the Revolution will drop to retailers sometime in 2006.
