Message Text: For nearly 20 years, CDs have been the medium of choice for digital music. Super Audio CD (SA-CD) has now added a new dimension to the sound experience.

Like a standard CD, the SA-CD measures 12 centimeters in diameter, but is capable of storing far more digital information. Up to 6 music channels can be stored in high resolution on a single disc for amazing surround sound precision. Consumers want compatibility. SA-CD players like the Philips SACD 1000 can also play standard CDs (in stereo). The gap between audio and video is bridged by the fact that the Philips player can also play DVDs. But all these features have a price: $1,800.
