Message Text: XGI Technology is showcasing its next-generation PCI Express (PCIe) graphics solution, the Volari 8300 series at Computex 2005, with mass production for the product set for the second half of this year.

The entry-level native PCIe Volari 8300 (XG47) has a 64-bit DRAM interface, supports DirectX 9.0, Shader Model 2 and TV encoding. The chip also supports DVI output in resolutions up to 2048x1536, as well as D-sub, HDTV and TV outputs.

According to XGI, the chip is designed to deliver performance 3D graphics for low-power PCs and the entry-level market. The Volari 8300 makes use of XGI?s eXtreme Cache virtual memory architecture. The Volari 8300 will also support notebook solutions and supports the MXM type 1 architecture on mobile platforms.

The product will be manufactured using 0.13-micron process technology

In March of this year, company sources stated XGI expects to land orders from five or six customers for its PCIe-enabled products. At that time, the company had already secured orders from Dell and Toshiba.
