Message Text: BenQ unveils a series of its latest storage products, including BD Triple Writer BW1000, BD Recorder BR1000 Concept, 16X DVD Writer DW1625 with LightScribe, and Slimline 8X DVD Writer TW200D at CeBIT (Hall 21, Stand B20), March 10-16, 2005 in Hannover.

The BenQ BW1000 is a product developed by Philips & BenQ Digital Storage (PBDS), which utilizes the most advanced Philips triple-laser optical pick-up unit in which the separate blue, infra-red and red lasers share the same optical pathway to provide Blu-ray Disc read/write capabilities, as well as read/write compatibilities with DVD and CD. This innovative optical pick-up unit has a flexible architecture for future speed improvements and versatile products design. Blue laser technology applies the emitted blue-violet light with wavelength 405nm, which can read and track pitch on an optical disc. The BenQ BW1000 also provides 50 Gbytes or more of capacity recording on an optical disc to fulfill the increasing demand for large capacity digital audio, video contents storage and data archives.

Blu-ray Disc is an advanced new optical storage standard that easily satisfies all next-generation users? requirements in terms of storage capacity, data speeds, copy protection, contents interactivity and easy-to-use. Blu-ray Disc offers the capacity of 25 Gbytes on a single-layer disc and 50 Gbytes on a double layer disc that offers full-length feature movie playback using high-definition MPEG2 encoding or even more advanced codec like AVC.

In addition, for pre-recorded packaged media, Blu-ray Disc has sufficient capacity to include bonus materials and interactive sessions for an unparalleled entertainment experience. For PC users archiving photographs or video contents and other data on the hard disk, Blu-ray Disc is by far the only recordable and rewritable format that provides such an impressive option in optical storage capacity and gives a seamless experience between PC and CE environments.

Currently, BenQ?s LightScribe DVDRW products are available in markets worldwide. BenQ?s latest external DVD Writer TW200D using the top speed Slimline 8X Engine with Double Layer support will be released in Q2 2005. In addition, beginning from the second half of 2005, BenQ and PBDS will offer the full line optical storage devices with Serial ATA interface from half-height DVDROM, DVD combo, DVDRW, Blu-ray to Slimline products, in order to provide consumers a total solution for speed upgrading and interface transition.
