Verbatim announced today that it will begin shipping
DataLifePlus® 4.7GB rewritable DVD discs for DVD-RW drives from
Pioneer and other manufacturers. Similar in functionality to
Verbatim DVD-R media, the new re-recordable DVD-RW media allows
users to edit and incrementally update data on the discs.
Fully compliant with the DVD Forum's specifications for the
DVD-RW format, Verbatim's 4.7GB DVD-RW discs incorporate
Super-Eutectic phase-change recording layer technology, a
breakthrough technology developed for its 10x CD-RW media. The
Super-Eutectic recording layer enhances the media's read/write
performance and longevity, ensuring that repeated recording and
playback will not cause any deterioration in picture or sound
quality.
Incorporating advanced CLV (constant linear velocity) recording
techniques, data can be quickly streamed to the media and
immediately played back for review or use. A single 4.7GB DVD-RW
disc can store 4,700 full-color photos, 2 hours of
theater-quality video, 14+ hours of MP3-compressed audio files or
more than 400,000 documents.
Verbatim's DVD-RW discs have a data life of more than 50 years
and information can be accessed millions of times without
read/write deterioration. When the data stored on the disc is no
longer useful or needs to be updated, users can overwrite the
disc up to 1,000 times.
Available from authorized resellers and the Verbatim Web site,
the MSRP for DataLifePlus DVD-RW media is $30.00 for single-sided
4.7GB discs. Verbatim backs the quality of its complete line of
DataLifePlus DVD media with a lifetime warranty |
