VBrick Systems, Inc. an innovator in DVD-quality video products announced today a new line of low-cost MPEG-2 network appliances designed for high-end video applications. VBrick 4000, 5000, and 6000 series video appliances join the award-winning MPEG-1 product line and provide DVD-quality video across Internet protocol (IP) and ATM networks.
VBrick products provide a convenient and simple way to improve communications. Organizations can increase productivity by monitoring assembly lines for reduced downtime, inform personnel by streaming news and information directly to their PCs, reduce costs by training personnel and educating students remotely and enhance security by observing critical areas with high-quality surveillance.
The Model 4000 series are MPEG-2 video encoders. They convert analog video (NTSC or PAL) to digital MPEG-2 video for distribution over digital or computer networks. The Model 4300 is an unique dual encoder that packages two MPEG-2 encoders in an extremely small footprint allowing you to deliver two high-quality streams over one IP interface. The Model 4300 is believed to be the most simple-to-use, compact, and lowest cost dual MPEG-2 encoder available today.
The VBrick Model 5000 series are MPEG-2 decoders. The decoders convert digital MPEG-2 video streams to analog video that can be viewed on standard televisions. The VBrick Model 6000 series are full duplex encoders/decoders, typically used for interactive conferencing. Like the 4000 and 5000 series, the Model 6000 appliances are compact, highly reliable and extremely cost effective. All VBrick network video appliances are simple to install and configure using the integral web server.

All of the new VBrick models include an integral web browser that allows organizations to collaborate electronically over their network. Text documents, technical drawings and spreadsheets can be exchanged and modified in real-time. This high level of functionality is integrated into a fully embedded product that does not rely on PCs or other devices for operation, resulting in greater simplicity and excellent network behavior.
Video sessions are instantly initiated using a simple infrared remote control similar to a standard television remote control. VBricks take ``point-and-click'' simplicity to a new level. Using the remote control, users highlight the channel in the onscreen ``program guide'' that they would like to see and then click to view. Full motion 30 frame-per-second DVD-video is instantly presented on a computer monitor or standard television. Graphic-intensive images and web pages may be instantly displayed on TV monitors and two-way television may be engaged for high-quality distance learning.
Desktop DVD without Hardware
The new VBricks stream DVD-quality video and CD-quality stereo audio directly to any number of PCs that are outfitted with VBrick's StreamPlayerII software decoder. Live MPEG-2 software decoding dramatically lowers the cost of deployment and enables PCs to receive broadcast-quality television. Coupled with the new VBrick MPEG-2 appliances, corporations, educational institutions, and government agencies can painlessly build private television stations for the broadcasting of news, information, and educational material not only to standard TV monitors, but on all PC desktops too.

The new compact VBrick's measure 2.3`` high X 8.75'' wide X 12.5`` deep. Standard video and audio interfaces include composite BNC, S-Video and audio in/out mini-jacks. The network interface is 10/100BaseT Ethernet. Optional ATM OC3/dual OC3 ports are available. |
