Message Text: Nero announced that Nero 6 Ultra Edition Version 6.6, the most comprehensive digital media suite available, has won the Editor's Choice award in PC Magazine's February 2005 issue.

This prestigious award recognizes outstanding performance and achievement for computer hardware software and electronics. Each product is evaluated, and receipt of the award is determined, by PC Magazine's editors and its logo is representative as one of one of the industry's highest achievements.

"Nero has undergone a steady stream of improvements that now make Nero 6 Ultra Edition 6.6 the clear market leader," wrote Don Labriola. "If you want a comprehensive solution that can handle a broad spectrum of content creation, backup and delivery chores, then Nero 6.6 is the package for you." Recognizing Nero's commitment to advanced technology, Labriola added, "Nero Digital also makes this the first media suite that can compress video using the new H.264 flavor of MPEG-4 (also known as MPEG-4 Part 10 or Advanced Video Coding). This feature is strategically significant because H.264/AVC has been chosen to be part of the next-generation Blu-Ray and HD-DVD blue-laser optical-disc specifications."

"It's an incredible achievement to be held in such high regard by PC Magazine and to receive their top honor, the distinguished Editor's Choice Award, for Nero 6.6," said Udo Eberlein, President, Nero Inc. "This award clearly identifies Nero as the market leader for digital media software, and is true recognition for the fact that Nero is continuously first in technology."

The award-winning Nero Version 6.6 includes a user-friendly application launcher called Nero StartSmart, two new applications-Nero MediaHome and Nero PhotoSnap-and a host of improvements on existing applications including Nero Vision Express 3, Nero Recode 2 and Nero ShowTime 2. Nero MediaHome transforms an ordinary home network into a fully functional streaming media center, allowing media files to be shared on a LAN (Local Area Network) and played back from the server in Nero ShowTime 2 on other networked systems. Nero PhotoSnap is used for photo editing and viewing. In addition, Nero Digital is the first complete MPEG-4 solution that integrates AVC/H.264 with HE-AAC, offering high-quality MPEG-4 video with the best quality MPEG-4 audio available as well as chapter, subtitle and 5.1 surround-sound support. By including both audio and video in the codec offerings, Nero Digital(TM) represents one of the very few "all in one" solutions in the world of A/V compression.
