Message Text: In response to the reduced retail price of 16x Super Multi DVD burners, Pioneer has lowered the retail price of its 16x DVD Dual DL (single-sided double-layer) burners from NT$3,500 (US$108) to NT$3,199 (US$98).

In addition, Lite-On IT, BenQ and Asustek Computer have all lowered their retail prices for 16x DVD Dual DL burners from NT$3,250-3,400 (US$100-105) to NT$2,990 (US$92) or even slightly lower. Second-tier local brands such as Micro-Star International (MSI) and Gigabyte Technology, however, maintained their prices at NT$2,900-2,950 (US$89-91).

The reduced prices of 16x DVD burners have increased the retail sales volume of DVD+R/-R discs by about one-third, the sources noted.
