Message Text: Software giant designs first PC for project managers

Microsoft UK has lifted the lid on its first PC designed specifically for project managers.

Dubbed Project PC, the device has been created in partnership with Scan Computers International and ships with "special features" to address the particular needs of project managers.

According to the software giant, it is designed to help keep tighter control of projects by providing simultaneous access to plans, resource pools, issue and risk logs and email.

The PC, which comes preloaded with the latest version of Microsoft Project, also includes a dual display to help working between project plans and emails.

It also boasts a powerful engine to minimise resource levelling calculations, and an optimised mouse for navigation across screens and through project plans.

Paul McAdam, business productivity advisor at Microsoft UK, said: "The Project PC's dual screen means I can have my project plan on one screen and the issues log right beside it on the next and I can navigate between the two."

The device, which is based on a Hoojum Mini Chassis, boasts two 17in Iiyama TFT displays, Intel P4 2.8GHz CPU, Socket LGA775, 160GB Seagate SATA HDD and 128MB XFX PCI-E GF6600 graphics card.
