According to DigiTimes, LiteOn achieved its goal of shipping a total one million DVD burners and DVD recorders in September...

, according to the company?s optical-disc drive (ODD) business general manager Michael Gong. Lite-On IT is now competing with Hitachi-LG Data Storage (HLDS) for the top position in the market for DVD burners and DVD recorders, Gong indicated.

According to Gong, Lite-On IT expects to ship one million DVD burners per month in the fourth quarter. OEM prices for its 16x DVD Dual burners should remain stable at US$70 since 16x DVD Dual burners supporting 4x DVD DL (single-sided double-layer) will not be available in the market in the short term, he added.

The company currently makes DVD recorders with built-in hard disk drives (HDD+DVD recorders) for two main OEM clients, Philips and Sanyo Electric.
