Sanyo Electric (TSE: 6764) announced that it has prototyped a CDMA 2000 1X EV-DO cellphone with a built-in digital TV tuner.
The new TV phone supports H.264/MPEG-4 AVC QVGA (320x240)15fps decoding, twice the MPEG-4 video compression ratio, to improve coding efficiency and quality. The 150g handset measures 102x50x28mm, and comes with a 2.4-inch, 260,000 color TFT LCD and a 2-megapixel CCD.
The mobile phone enables users to watch TV for up to two hours. Sanyo Electric will demonstrate the prototype at CEATEC JAPAN 2004 (October 5 - 9 in Makuhari Messe).
