TUV certifies Quality of MSI Motherboard

For several weeks, the engineers of T?V Saarland stored the MSI motherboard 865PE Neo2 Platinum in a high temperature cabinet, at a constant temperature of 70 degree Celsius. It is certain that at the end of the test, the MSI 865 Neo Platinum will get the TUV-certification "Geprufte Langzeitstabilitdt" (certified durability or certified long-term stability, No. 2004/06-137).

Subsequently, the technical control association confirms after complicated computations and high temperature investigations the increase of "Mean Time Between Failures" from 19 to 25 years.

The "Mean Time Between Failures" (MTBF) is the average number of operating hours between two incidents of failure of a system. The MTBF is the statistic average value for the actual working time of the device while it runs trouble-free. The next loss is to be expected in the statistic means upon expiration of the MTBF. The higher the MTBF, the rarer the concerned device will fail to operate. The MTBF is a measured value to describe how sensitive or stable a system operates.

A total of four boards have been put into the oven. Each of the four motherboards had to undergo a four-week test cycle and each of them remained functional after the test period. Each system's computing capacity was charged by 100% as it ran a video, the SiSoft Sandra Burn-in-Test and Prime95 all at the same time.

Already featured in this year's CeBIT, the pilot-run of the T?V-tests can be admired at the MSI booth. At the industrial fair in Hannover this MSI-board was burn-in together with an active cooled MSI Geforce MX440 graphics card, different memory modules and a Pentium 4 3.0 GHz with Northwood core in the temperature cabinet.

The 865PE Neo2 Platinum was the first board of the new Platinum series. Recently developed products were based on the Grantsdale and Alderwood chipset as well as the K8N Neo with Nvidia nForce3 250Gb chipset for AMD socket 754-Athlon 64. The Platinum series represents the highest motherboard quality from MSI. Before a MSI motherboard gets the "Platinum" title, it has to successfully undergo strict validation tests with different components. For each Platinum product, a detailed test-report will be attached to its documentation.
