BenQ launches 16x DVD recordable drive

With its super fast 16x recording capability, the DW1600 can record a 4.75 GB disc in six minutes. In addition to its’16x recording speed, the BenQ DW1600 also features 2.4x DVD+R double layer recording capability, which allows the recording of 16 hours of VHS quality video or 4 hours of DVD quality video on a single disc.

After recording your disc, you will not need to worry about player compatibility, as when used with the BenQ Book Type Management utility the BenQ DW1600 provides increased disc compatibility for the majority of DVD video players and DVD-ROM drives.

The drive has also been designed with a firmware upgrade feature to allow it to support DVD-R/-RW recording, which is due to be available in August 2004.

The BenQ DW1600 further incorporates High-Speed Signal Algorithm that allows high data frequency to be transmitted to the OPU without the loss of partial signals, delivering consistent writing quality at high recording speeds. The BenQ DW1600 package also includes BenQ’s Book Type Management and QVideo 2.0 software.

BenQ announced that it will start shipping its first 16x DVD recordable drive, the DW1600, in the middle of June, 2004. BenQ will feature the 16x DVD recording technology at Computex 2004 in Taipei.
