Sony offers new Super Audio-CD changers

Sony of Canada today announced a new five-disc Super Audio-CD/CD changer, the SCD-CD595, as well as a new line of DVD Dream(R) systems with Super Audio-CD (SA-CD) compatibility, providing surround sound solutions to home theatre entertainment enthusiasts.

Delivering high-quality multi-channel audio while using a multi-channel management system, the affordable SCD-CD595 is ideal for consumers who are looking to add to their existing component systems or replace a traditional CD-only transport.

The SA-CD format is continuing to gather momentum with 118 SA-CD compatible products on the worldwide market from 26 manufacturers. Additionally, as of mid-February, 1,084 SA-CD titles were available in North America, with approximately 75 percent being hybrid (discs that are playable on SA-CD and traditional CD players).

The new SA-CD changer is equipped with advanced audio features such as Speaker Delay Time Adjustment, which provides ideal sound stage even in less than perfect speaker set-up environment; Multi-Channel Audio Output and an advanced Multi-Channel Management system, which adjusts bass frequencies to match speakers. Additional features include a Super Audio D/A Converter for both CD and SA-CD, Digital Optical Output for CD and 5.1 channel analog RCA outputs.

Housed in an elegant black chassis, the SCD-CD595 five-disc changer will be available in July at a suggested list price of $269.99.
