Hitachi, Ltd will make a full entry into the DVD recorder market

It will follow up with 5 models featuring a hard disk having a maximum storage capacity of at least 300 gigabytes in late May. It also plans to introduce higher-end models with more then 400GB of storage capacity in late June.

Currently, the maximum capacity of DVD recorders supplied by other electronics makers is 250GB.
The major manufacturer of electrical equipment aims to attract consumers with products featuring a large recording capacity ahead of the Summer Olympic Games, which is slated to be held in Athens this August. The firm targets for more than 15% market share next year.

Hitachi's products feature speedy operation, such as the ability to start up in a short time and quickly respond when control buttons are pressed. They are also designed to allow the user to quickly access specific programs or scenes from among a large volume of recordings.
