MCE offers 8x DVD -/+R/RW drives for MAC


MCE Technologies has introduced internal and external 8x DVD -/+R/RW drives for MAC computers. The drive accompanies the following bundled software: Roxio Toast Lite, ImageMixer DVD authoring software and Retrospect Express backup software.

MCE's new burner also include drives for making it compatible with iTunes and Finder burning under Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X; the internal drive will also work with iDVD running Mac OS X v10.2 "Jaguar" or later.

The drive writes DVD-R and DVD+R media at up to 8x speed; DVD-RW and DVD+RW at up to 4x speed, CD-R at up to 24x, CD-RW at 24x and reads DVD-ROM discs at up to 12x, and CD-ROM discs at up to 40x speed.

The internal MCE 8x DVD-/+R/RW drive costs $149 (around 80) and the external version equipped with FireWire and USB 2.0 costs $199 (around 110).
