Lite-On IT has landed orders for slim-type 8x DVD burners from Dell, with shipments to begin in the second quarter of this year, according to local competitors. According to Taiwanese Digitimes, LiteOn declined to confirm the report.

Lite-On IT started production of slim 4x DVD burners at the end of last year. According to the company, OEM prices of such models and slim-type combo drives stand at US$120-130 and US$60, respectively. The company will offer 16x DVD burners at the end of this year.
